Description
Most post-2007 diesel vehicles are fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) for emissions reasons, however there are a few disadvantages to this device; including constant maintenance and repairs.
Because the DPF clogs up, it increases backpressure. Due to this pressure, the fuel flow is hugely disturbed and slowed down. Therefore, when you remove this filter, the fuel flows much easily and faster, increasing the overall fuel mileage.
Specification
| Exhaust Material |
T-409 Stainless Steel, it is magnetic. |
| Thickness |
2mm thick for long-lasting durability and heat resistance. |
| Inlet Diameter |
4.0"/5.0‘’ |
| mandrel-bent construction |
Maximum flow efficiency, helping your diesel breathe easier |
Benefits
Expect to see a significant increase in fuel mileage. If your DPF is plugged up your probably averaging about 13-14 mpg. More or less depending on the severity of the restriction. After deleting the DPF/CAT expect to get a combined mileage of 18-19 mpg.
- It removes the need to service the DPF at regular intervals (cleaning, replacement)
- A DPF delete will remove the possibility of a DPF failure which could cause expensive diesel repairs
- Due to less exhaust backpressure, the DPF delete increases exhaust flow and therefore increases the performance of your motor!
- Paired with an ECU remap, the DPF delete is proven to increase power and torque for all vehicles
Install takes about 1hr with basic hand tools done on the ground of your driveway or garage. Quicker if you have automotive style lift. Cutting may be be required to fit shorter wheelbase bed/cab configurations. Clamps, hangers and hardware are included. You may have to re-use some factory hardware.
Tuner Required: Removal of the DPF, CAT, SCR, and/or DOC involves removing and eliminating emission related sensors. A DPF delete capable tuner is required to prevent any check engine light or diagnostic trouble codes from setting.
Fitment
2008-2010 Ford F-250 F350 Super Duty Powerstroke 6.4 Diesel. Crew cab short bed & crew cab long bed. Also fits Cab & Chassis trucks.
Q1: What’s the difference between 4-inch and 5-inch exhaust systems?
A:
- 4-inch: Better suited for mild/moderately tuned engines; retains optimal backpressure to boost low-end torque.
- 5-inch: Ideal for high-horsepower builds (500+ HP); maximizes exhaust flow to lower exhaust gas temperature (EGT) and unlock peak power.
Q2: Can a magnet stick to this pipe? Is it really made of stainless steel?
A: Yes. The pipe is constructed from T-409 stainless steel, which is magnetic (unlike non-magnetic T-304). It offers excellent corrosion resistance and better cost-effectiveness than T-304.
Q3: How thick is the pipe, and how long will it last?
A: The pipe is 2mm thick, made of T-409 stainless steel. It is durable, moderately weighted, and designed for long-term reliable use.
Q4: Will this DPF delete kit improve vehicle performance?
A: Yes! The key benefits include:
- Lower exhaust gas temperature (EGT)
- Faster turbocharger response
- Improved fuel efficiency (with proper tuning)
- Permanent elimination of DPF clogging and regeneration failures
Q5: What is a DPF delete race pipe, and what does it do?
A: A DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) delete race pipe replaces the factory DPF, eliminating exhaust restrictions to improve airflow, boost performance, and reduce backpressure. This modification typically increases horsepower, torque, and fuel efficiency while preventing future DPF-related issues (e.g., clogging, regeneration failures).
Q6: Is a DPF delete legal for street use in the US?
A: No. Removing the DPF violates U.S. EPA and CARB emissions regulations. This modification is intended for off-road/racing use only. Fines and penalties may apply if used on public roads. Always check local laws before installation.
Q7: Do I need a tuner after installing a DPF delete pipe?
A: Yes. The 6.7L Powerstroke’s ECU requires a compatible DPF-off tune to prevent check engine lights and ensure proper engine operation. Running a delete pipe without tuning can cause performance issues or engine damage.
Q8: Will deleting the DPF void my vehicle’s warranty?
A: Yes. Dealerships can detect DPF deletes and may deny powertrain warranty claims. Proceed at your own risk.
Q9: How difficult is the installation of this DPF delete kit?
A: Installation is straightforward for experienced DIYers but requires lifting the truck and removing the OEM DPF/catalytic converter. Basic hand tools are sufficient, and the process can be completed on the ground (an automotive lift can simplify alignment but is not required). For short-wheelbase or crew cab models, minor trimming may be needed to ensure proper clearance. Professional installation is recommended if you lack tools or experience.
Q10: What maintenance benefits come with a DPF delete?
A:
- Eliminates costly DPF cleaning and replacement expenses
- Removes DPF regeneration cycles to save fuel
- Lowers EGT under heavy load to protect engine components
- Prevents expensive repairs caused by DPF failures
Q11: Can a vehicle with a DPF delete pass emissions testing?
A: No. Removing emissions equipment will cause your truck to fail smog tests in regulated states.
Q12: Will the DPF delete race pipe produce louder exhaust noise?
A: Yes. Deleting the DPF and muffler (if applicable) increases exhaust volume. The 4-inch version is moderately loud, while the 5-inch version delivers a deeper tone. Adding an aftermarket muffler or resonator can significantly reduce in-cab drone.
Q13: Will a 6.7L Powerstroke trigger a check engine light (CEL) after installing a DPF delete pipe?
A: Yes—unless paired with a proper DPF-delete tune. The stock ECU will detect missing emissions equipment and trigger a CEL. A tuner with DPF-off support is mandatory.
Q14: What’s the difference between a Downpipe-Back and Turbo-Back exhaust system?
A:
- Downpipe-Back system: Replaces all exhaust components after the downpipe (including DPF and stock pipes); easier to install as it retains the factory downpipe.
- Turbo-Back system: Replaces the entire exhaust system starting from the turbocharger; delivers stronger performance gains but requires more extensive modification (an additional DPF delete race pipe is needed for a full Turbo-Back setup).
Q15: Is this 5-inch exhaust system compatible with cab & chassis truck models?
A: No. This kit is designed only for standard pickup configurations (F-250, F-350, F-450). It is not compatible with cab & chassis models due to differences in frame and exhaust routing.
Q16: Does this exhaust system come with a muffler or resonator?
A: Two versions are available: a 5-inch straight pipe (no muffler) for an aggressive exhaust note, and a version with a muffler/resonator for reduced in-cab drone. Choose the configuration that matches your sound preference.
Q17: Is a 5-inch exhaust system too large for a stock turbocharged 6.7L Powerstroke engine?
A: No. Many users install 5-inch full exhaust systems on stock or mildly tuned 6.7L Powerstroke trucks with no issues. It enhances exhaust flow and lowers EGT without compromising performance.
Q18: Will a 5-inch DPF delete exhaust system improve towing performance?
A: Yes. Reduced exhaust backpressure boosts engine efficiency and lowers EGT, helping maintain power during long-duration towing or uphill driving—especially when paired with a compatible tuner.
Q19: Is this exhaust system compatible with tuners like Mini Maxx, EZ Lynk, H&S, or EFI Live?
A: Absolutely. It is fully compatible with most tuners that support DPF delete functionality. Always confirm the tuner’s DPF-off settings before installation.
Q20: Will the 5-inch exhaust system cause excessive in-cab drone?
A: Drone levels depend on the configuration and vehicle sound insulation. The 5-inch straight pipe may produce mild drone, while the version with a muffler/resonator significantly reduces this issue. For the quietest ride, opt for the muffled configuration.
