Description

The 6.7L Powerstroke is a powerful diesel engine, but factory emissions systems like the DPF, EGR, and restrictive tuning can hurt performance, fuel economy, and engine longevity. This delete kit is purpose-built for 2014, 2017, and 2019 6.7L Powerstroke owners looking to eliminate common emissions-related issues and unlock better reliability, performance, and fuel economy—especially in off-road or heavy-hauling scenarios.

Installation

This Powerstroke delete kit can be installed at home using basic hand tools in approximately 1–3 hours. The process is even faster with access to a vehicle lift. Some minor cutting may be required for short-bed or custom cab configurations. The package includes all necessary clamps, hangers, and hardware—you may need to reuse a few factory bolts.

Pro Tips:

  • The EGR inlet bolts at the exhaust manifold are prone to breakage, particularly on 2015–2017 models. It’s recommended to have a thread repair jig on hand just in case.
  • Always complete the tuner setup and load the delete tune file before physical installation to prevent CELs or limp mode.
  • For the Mini Maxx V2 delete tuner, you’ll need to submit your device serial number after delivery. Tune file generation typically takes 1–3 business days.

Tuner Required for Installation

Removal of the DPF, CAT, SCR, and DOC involves disconnecting multiple emissions-related sensors. To prevent check engine lights (CEL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), a compatible delete tuner is absolutely required.

SPELAB recommends using trusted devices like the Mini Maxx V2 or EZ Lynk to ensure smooth operation. Without proper tuning, your 6.7L Powerstroke will enter limp mode or fail to start entirely.

This kit’s included 6.7 Powerstroke delete pipe completely replaces the restrictive factory DPF system. However, optimal performance and reliability are only achieved when paired with correct ECU recalibration.

    Delete Kit Warnings & Usage Guidance (2014–2019 Powerstroke)

    Installing a 2014–2019 6.7 Powerstroke delete kit brings tangible benefits—improved fuel economy, lower EGTs, and reduced DEF reliance—but also introduces certain responsibilities and legal risks:

    1. DPF/DEF/EGR deletes are federally illegal for on-road use in the U.S., even if your state doesn't enforce emissions testing. Use at your own risk.

    2. Dealers typically won't accept deleted trucks for trade-ins unless all factory emissions equipment is restored. Always keep your OEM parts.

    3. Several sensors and connectors will be left unplugged post-install. Use dielectric grease and weatherproof caps to avoid corrosion or shorts.

    4. If your truck is under factory warranty, emissions deletes will void powertrain-related coverage immediately.

    Tips:

    • DIYers with moderate mechanical skills can handle the install, but be cautious—EGR flange bolts are prone to snapping, and specialized tools may be required.

    • If you don’t want added power, ask for a stock-power “zero-gain” calibration, which disables emissions systems while keeping factory driving behavior intact.

    FAQ

    Q1: Can I revert my truck back to stock after a delete?
    A1: Yes. As long as you keep all OEM emissions parts (DPF, EGR, SCR) and have a backup of your original ECU file, you can reinstall the components and flash the stock calibration.

    Q2: Do I need tuning software after installing the delete kit?
    A2: Absolutely. Custom tuning is required to disable DPF/EGR systems in the ECU. Without a proper tune, your truck will throw error codes, run poorly, or enter limp mode.

    Q3: Will I pass emissions testing after the delete?
    A3: No. Any vehicle with emissions systems removed or disabled will fail emissions or visual inspections in regulated areas. Delete kits are intended for off-road or competition use only.

    Q4: Is the SPELAB kit hard to install?
    A4: Installation is beginner-to-intermediate level for most DIYers. DPF and CCV deletes are straightforward, but EGR components can be tricky due to seized or brittle bolts—professional help may be needed.

    Q5: Is Mini Maxx V2 still recommended?
    A5: While still effective, Mini Maxx V2 is no longer in production and lacks active firmware support. EZLynk or similar modern platforms offer better long-term stability and tuning flexibility.
