MiniMaxx Tuner Error 0 Code

Error 0 typically occurs because the SD card format is incorrect, so the tuner cannot recognize it. The card must be formatted as FAT.


Quick Fix Steps

  1. Remove the SD card from your Mini Maxx tuner
  2. Format the SD card to FAT (not FAT32/exFAT/NTFS)
  3. Reinsert the card and restart the tuner

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the files using the link provided after checkout
  2. Unzip the files to a folder on your computer
  3. Connect the tuner’s Micro SD card to your computer with an adapter
  4. Create a “Tuner Backup” folder and copy all original SD card files into it
  5. Copy the new files to the SD card and overwrite existing files
  6. Insert the SD card back into the tuner and power it on

MiniMaxx V2 Missing SD Card

If your tuner still shows a missing SD card error after following the update process, your SD card is using an incompatible file system. The card must be formatted to FAT only.

If the tuner prompts an error about a missing specific file, the files were not copied to the SD card correctly. The most common mistake is dragging the entire extracted main folder onto the SD card. You only need to copy all individual files and subfolders inside the extracted folder directly onto the SD card.

Important Note:

Due to a firmware bug, the tuner’s displayed version number will not change after a software update. This issue will be resolved in a future release; our current priority is optimizing the tune files.

The root cause of the SD card recognition failure is that factory bulk file imports were not configured with the required FAT format. You can fix this by reformatting your SD card following the steps below:
  1. Remove the SD card from your tuner, then connect it to your Windows PC using a Micro SD to USB adapter.
  2. Rename the SD card exactly to: MINI MAXX (do not include quotation marks).
  3. If using a new SD card, reformat it first and set the file system strictly to FAT — do not use FAT32 or exFAT.
Formatting Steps:

Right-click the SD card drive, select Format, then set the File System to FAT. Once completed, the SD card will be fully compatible and recognized by your Mini Maxx tuner.

Please Change the fuel rail sensor it’s burned out.

H&S MINI MAXX DURAMAX ERROR CODES 312 & 316

Error Code 312 (2007–2010 Duramax)

When attempting to install an H&S Mini Maxx on your 07-10 Duramax and you get code 312:
  1. Navigate to Show Settings.
  2. Press and hold the bottom left key for 10 seconds until a new screen pops up.
  3. Enter unlock code: 0468.
  4. Select Reset Unit.
  5. Proceed directly to Install Download.
  6. Do NOT re-select the truck model and year.

Error Code 316

This code means that the tuner isn’t communicating with the vehicle’s ECM.

This issue occurs if there is an existing aftermarket tune on the truck, or if the truck has had a custom tune installed in the past.

Your truck will first need to be flashed back to stock at your local dealer before the Mini Maxx tuner can be installed properly.

H&S MINI MAXX UNRECOGNIZED PART NUMBER ON 6.7L POWERSTROKE

H&S tuners restore your truck to its original factory calibration. Ford continuously updates its calibration database — there are currently 430 separate calibrations for the 11–15 6.7L Powerstroke.

Due to frequent Ford calibration updates, your H&S device may display an “unrecognized part number” message. Follow the steps below to bypass this error.

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. Write down the full error file name shown on your H&S tuner, example: DC20BMF.MM.

  2. Remove the SD card from your H&S tuner and insert it into a computer.

  3. Open the corresponding folder based on your truck model year:

    • 2011–2012: Open the FORD67 folder
    • 2013–2014: Open the FORD13 folder
    • 2015: Open the FORD15 folder

  4. Check the first 4 characters of your recorded error file name.

    The error means the tuner cannot locate your vehicle’s exact OEM calibration file. You only need to match the first 4 digits with any existing file inside the folder. Multiple matching files will be available — you can use any of them.

  • BC20xxx = 2011 ECM
  • BC33xxx = 2011 TCM
  • CC20xxx = 2012 ECM
  • CC33xxx = 2012 TCM
  • DC20xxx = 2013 ECM
  • DC33xxx = 2013 TCM
  • EC20xxx = 2014 ECM
  • EC33xxx = 2014 TCM
  1. Select any file with matching first 4 digits, then copy this file.

  2. Paste the copied file into the same folder, then rename it to exactly match the full file name from your error message.

    Example: If the error shows DC20BMF.MM, rename the copied DC20xxx.MM file to DC20BMF.MM.

  3. After renaming the file correctly on the SD card, reinstall the card into your tuner — the device will now allow you to continue the tuning process.

If you receive a new error afterward, your TCM calibration file is also unrecognized. Simply repeat the same file copy and rename process using the matching TCM file prefix: BC33xxx, CC33xxx, DC33xxx, EC33xxx.

ANSWERS TO MOST COMMON QUESTIONS BELOW

H&S MINI MAXX | CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON

The most common issue and overlooked thing when installing the H&S Mini Maxx is thinking the tune has been installed when in fact it has not been.

If your check engine light is on after installing; 99% of the time its because you didn’t not follow the on screen instructions properly. Read & Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s).

If codes and check engine light are still on; verify the tune status:

Go into the Menu < Settings < Tune Status.

If tune status shows “Not Installed” go back and reinstall.

It will ask if the DPF is present or DPF removed. Be sure to select DPF removed.

H&S MINI MAXX | VEHICLE SELECTION INFINITE LOOP

When installing the H&S Mini Maxx you must select your vehicle to load the proper tunes.

In some instances it will continually keep asking even though you may have already selected it multiple times.

This is a known issue, a rare issue, but we have seen it a handful of times.

Send back the screen for warranty and we can swap it out for a new unit.


H&S MINI MAXX | YES, IT WILL FIT A 2015 AND 2016* POWERSTROKE

The H&S Mini Maxx will work on the 2008-2016 Ford Powerstroke Diesel. It’s common knowledge the H&S Mini Maxx will work up to 2014. Rumors on forums and miss informed dealers/installers seem to think development of tunes stopped after 2014. However that’s not the case. Our tuners are Fully up to date with the latest 2015/2016* Powerstroke tunes available. See blog post on 2016 Powerstroke before purchasing for that year.

*CERTAIN 2016 TRUCKS ARE EQUIPPED WITH A CRANKCASE VENTILATION SENSOR. WHEN INSTALLING THE H&S MINI MAXX THIS WILL SET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT & DTC. THE TRUCK WILL STILL RUN PROPERLY BUT YOU WILL HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

H&S MINI MAXX | WILL NOT WORK ON 2015+ DURAMAX LML

The H&S Mini Maxx will not work on a 2015 truck.

For some unknown reason people purchase the Mini Maxx thinking it will work on a 2015+ GM Duramax. It will not.

The Mini Maxx will only work on the 2011-2014 LML Duramax.

Check your VIN before purchasing. The 10th digit will tell you the year.

2013 = D, 2014 = E, 2015 = F, 2016 = G.

H&S MINI MAXX | UNRECOGNIZED PART NUMBER SPRA020.MM SPARTAN TUNER

If when attempting to install an H&S Mini Maxx you come across Unrecognized Part Number “SPRAxxxx.MM” this indicated that a Spartan Tuner has been previously installed on the PCM.

Spartan Tuners essentially hijack the the PCM and leave a footprint that prevents other devices from being downloaded.

The truck needs to be re-flashed back to stock or “as built”. Typically a diesel repair shop or dealer can take care of this using an Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS).

After the PCM has been flashed back to stock as it came from the factory you can install the H&S Mini Maxx.

Mini Maxx Tuner is stuck on initializing communication

Simply press the top left button on tuner. If that does not work try unplugging and re-plugging in tuner and then retry.

H&S MINI MAXX | CRANKCASE CODE 2016 FORD POWERSTROKE DIESEL 6.7L

The H&S Mini Maxx will work on the 2008-2016 Ford Powerstroke.

Some 2016 trucks are equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor.

When installing the H&S Mini Maxx this will set a check engine light & DTC.

The truck will still run properly but you will have a check engine light.

H&S MINI MAXX | error message: "Please connect the MiniMaxx V2 drive to proceed"

When you encounter the error message: “Please connect the MiniMaxx V2 drive to proceed”, it might be because the SD card you inserted is incorrect.

Please replace the SD card and set its format to FAT.

Set the name of the card to “MINI MAXX”, and then try again.
